When this movie came out it felt like it was about two friends and their website. Today it feels like the dark origin story of the 21st century.

Has some interesting ideas but overall it’s plagued by a long, unfocused story and a number of scenes that simply don’t work. I mostly enjoyed Pattinson’s performance but Ruffalo was grating in his portrayal of a character that seemed to be an amalgamation of Trump, Musk, and a revivalist preacher.

This movie is basically a giant underline to the fact that the Guardian’s corner of the MCU—while initially its biggest gamble—is its most special.

While the storytelling feels a little clunky and convoluted at times, the chases and set pieces are as exhilarating as ever, and some new additions to the cast like Shea Whigham and Pom Klementieff bring some fun and chaotic energy to the series. I never felt the burden of the three hour runtime and it avoids feeling like half a movie despite being a Part 1.
