Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Severance both play with memory to provide escapism from pain and trauma. It hurts so much to be brokenhearted that we'll do whatever it takes to numb the pain. I do enjoy how Bong Joon Ho finds different ways to tackle class and capitalism in his work, whether through more grounded concepts like Parasite or something larger than life like Mickey 17.
