Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Severance both play with memory to provide escapism from pain and trauma. It hurts so much to be brokenhearted that we'll do whatever it takes to numb the pain. Pretending that something never happened doesn't change the fact that a pain-free life is simply impossible, pain is the fundamental cost of everything good that we can experience.

It takes a gifted filmmaker to tackle a lofty topic like this and Michel Gondry does…

I do enjoy how Bong Joon Ho finds different ways to tackle class and capitalism in his work, whether through more grounded concepts like Parasite or something larger than life like Mickey 17.

Even if Mickey Barnes was supposed to be expendable labor, he proved he can be so much more. We aren't machines for work, our humanity is what defines us and gives life meaning.

Might be a career-best performance by Alicia Vikander, I dunno how Fleur Fortuné was able to direct such a challenging role without it feeling janky. Tense, unhinged, and thought-provoking, what a phenomenal feature-length directorial debut by Fortuné.

"And I contain multitudes" wasn't expecting an end-of-the world movie to hit me so hard emotionally
