  The side of the road dancing when the metal music comes on the radio and Sailor flips out of the car— one of the best scenes I've ever seen. Also loved the way Lula had her arm up clutching her hair for approximately 70% of the movie.  

  And yet here I shall be a bummer: the only thing is that I get so uncomfortable with all the gendered violence towards women in much of Lynch’s work, am thinking on why this is such a theme for him.

  This haunting desperation. There’s a moment around 1:22 where she looks at him, attentive & hoping for so much approval— it’s maybe the first time I begin to see her smile.
  Hard to watch, but the ending stuck it for me.
