    Bong Joon Ho is truly the master of oscillating between emotional tones. I so enjoy his humour and it felt quite impish here at times which was fun. The contrasting sadness, shock-horror, tension, despair are all carefully dosed with that backdrop and are that much more powerful for it.

    Meets the "never forget how it makes you feel" threshold. That is deeply, palpably uneasy, with the discomfort bound up in its familiarity.

    Varda's genius is that there are a handful of frames taken in isolation that could be perceived as anything other than beautiful, idyllic, warm. It creates a sort of mirroring of the main female characters' experiences and the viewer's; almost second-guessing the disconcertment underlying such a postcard life.

    I don't think Mangold quite delivered on what he set out to do (the political shifts and shakes of the 1960s through the lens of Bob Dylan and his musical transitions). At times, meaningful exploration was substituted for news reels and surface level montages, or a quick shot of Bob at the March on Washington while Sylvie is sad in bed.     Proof that Nora Ephron needed to let someone else direct her movies and cast Billy Crystal as the obnoxious but charming love interest because Tom Hanks just does not have it.

    I love what Rob Reiner does with 90 minutes - including the couples on the couches with their anecdotes, which I know isn't for everyone.

    Last thought - are we pretending that Harry and Sally are the same age? Because that's crazy.
