  The Boy and the Heron 2023

  Fell asleep in a cold dark cinema after downing a prosecco glass  of Midori and Cointreau unfortunately so won’t rate this film specifically but I LOVED IT. One of those films where you know you are in safe, safe hands. A fantastical amalgamation and tribute to Miyazaki’s career at Studio Ghibli by the man himself which ponders on the nature of art, creativity, and legacy. Stunning animation and an equally stunning score by Joe Hisaishi completed this film and made it a profound experience that I have no quite grasped completely but which leaves me aching to know more. Utterly lovely.
