really really gorgeous movie. the special effects are charmingly pulpy and terrible. unfortunately absolutely zero semblance of a plot and although the score is awesome at times it makes the dialogue incredibly difficult to hear, but i can’t give it a low rating in good consciousness because of how entertained i was from start to finish, even taking into account the corny dialogue, disjointed plot, and terrible english overdubbing.
i think there’s something really interesting to be said for how in this movie ugliness is almost always evil. finished the movie wanting to paint really badly and also very sure that dario argento is incredibly racist

trope-y, gross, gothic, atmospheric, and incredibly horny. basically everything a vampire movie should be. not a groundbreaking adaptation by any stretch, but really enjoyable nonetheless. i left the theatre wanting to be slightly more scared and also very sure i never want to work in real estate.
