  when marc andre disappears for several months and the documentarians' response is to go "Wow what a weird guy who likes being alone" instead of "Maybe this calls for a re-evaluation of how we are framing this person and his mission" this, for me, becomes a film not so much about climbing but about the failure of certain modes of documentary to tell you something about their subject on their subject's terms (or something resembling those terms). & sports documentaries or media generally fails in this way, focusing on the obvious spectacle in a really tired way and only ever glimpsing the sublime beneath

  edit: apparently the biennale buildings were brought to you by AI. Anyway the more i think about this movie the less it seems

  Solid first half followed by a slew of awkward and confusing choices and scenes in the second half. Some surprisingly stiff writing and acting, so much so that you wonder if it might've been intentional, which accumulates enough over the runtime that it cheapened the grandeur of its images and the architecture on display. Hard to resist…
