  Nobody is doing it (playing with color, fashion, interior design, and melodrama that doesn’t come at the cost of truly incredible acting (Tilda!!!)) like Almodóvar. But I can’t help but think this would be a bit better in Spanish? Either way, I was enchanted and will revisit this v soon. I can’t stop thinking about it. Oh and what a remarkable and effective score btw!

  Cult classic for a reason (SO horrifying) but 
  also there’s some really thoughtful gender commentary going on here that was so ahead of its time. Like YES bozo incompetent police + scary aggressive controlling boyfriend + systemic distrust of young woman =  REALLY SCARY!!!

  Phenomenal for many reasons but right now I just can’t stop thinking about all the mirror scenes. What a genius way of depicting reflection (or lack thereof). And the LAYERS my god! The masks we hide behind vs how we see ourselves vs how others see us. Can’t wait to watch this again.

  As someone who suffers from the debilitating tendency to think about life’s “what ifs” on a daily basis….I will literally never emotionally recover from this story.
