Kind of didn't feel sorry for the daughter at all. Talk about learning things the hard way. Found her really rude to most adults trying to help her and disrespectful to her mum, yet the moment there was any question about her mum, she wouldn't hear it.
She wasn't great at listening either. I get there's panic but hers was built on guilt. She had a direct link to the feds. There were things she should have shared earlier.
All in all, decent, few twists but not massively surprising.
I don't find Cindy Busby that convincing. None were that great. The whole, let's find a really glamorous silver dress bit, and then she ends up in this shiny boring thing, did make me laugh. Very overdramatic film for what was actually happening.
Compelling, great and believable performances particularly from the central characters, Gibson, Russo and Sinise. A different take on the child kidnap genre; the premise was somewhat out there enough that it could have seemed ridiculous in less capable hands than Ron Howard but you find yourself believing that Gibson's characters' choices were the only options he had. It also challenges you by not having clear cut good guys v bad guys but more people who make poor choices and the impact these decisions have on them. Have watched repeatedly over the years and still stands up as a classic.

This film is disturbing. Imagine getting amnesia and everyone around you that you can't remember but are told love you do their best to try to manipulate you into being someone else and keep major facts about your life from you for their own selfish needs. Hubby is a lazy, insecure slob you planned to divorce but he pretends you were happy so that you change but he doesn't have to make an effort. It's a great plot for a psychological thriller but not a Christmas movie.
