    Speak No Evil

Fun movie, but a bit frustrating that the first half of the movie is full of people making unrealistic decisions — especially mom. Mom is overbearing but lets her daughter sleep alone with a boy? Ride a Vespa with a strange man without a helmet? Seems inconsistent.

That being said I did enjoy the watch I did especially love the realism of the fight choreography and action in the second half — I think there was a clunkiness to their struggles and fights that felt realistic and exhilarating that really grounded the movie in something raw.

Kick-Ass meets Guns Akimbo meets John Wick meets Kill Bill in a fun cartoonish and comic book-esque romp. I really appreciate a movie that just goes for it, and this one really does that. It’s surreal and bloody without taking itself too seriously. The magic doesn’t live in the plot (although it’s not a bad one), but in the vibe and action. The plot, while straightforward and linear has some fun unexpected ticks and doesn’t detract from the experience.

I’ve watched it sporadically since I was about 12 and each time it makes me feel a little closer to her. I can’t think of a movie that is more of a love letter to life. Each moment is so poignant and funny and reminiscent of every pure feeling you’ve ever had. The Cat Stevens soundtrack creates such an intimacy and timelessness. It is one of the few soundtracks I can listen to on…

I love the title of this movie — I think it’s so validating of both Benji and David’s experiences and what it means to go through pain. The favorite standout line to me in the movie is when David is talking about his life at the dinner table with the group and how he marches on each day because “his pain is unexceptional”. I think it’s this little window into Jesse’s independent pain in a story that feels otherwise very…
