  it was a little disorienting to adjust to at first (the camera bobs around a lot) but also made for a viewing experience unlike literally anything i've ever seen before. this feels to me like such a triumph of filmmaking and archival work and looking black pain in the eye that despite not getting the award recognition it deserved, it has succeeded by just existing.

  tellement de douceur dans le traitement de ses personnages, c'est si tendre. encore une belle preuve que le thème de l'amitié au cinéma sait toujours comment me terrasser de chagrin.

  taken aback by how much of a magistral slay that was. dev subverts the usual man with a vengeance story to elevate the genre with his (beautiful) cultural heritage and heavy political underlying. the cinematography bursts with creative ideas (that scene with the hijras' robes twirling in the midst of the bloodbath, my god) and the question of one's path under traumatic circumstances haunts the narrative as we're taken on this raw, tensed and brutal climb to the last floor of a man's (a system?) revenge journey.
