  Half a dozen rewatches later and this is still firmly one of my all-time favorites. With each revisit, I come to a different conclusion about the real force of evil in the story because such is the level of writing, storytelling, and mystery layered into this South Korean masterpiece. Weaving between thriller/drama tropes, horror, and at times genuine comedy, The Wailing creates a brooding atmosphere that demands the viewer’s attention until the very end.
