Mickey 17 2025
The accent in the beginning caught me off guard.
This was a really fun watch, I loved how stylized the acting was from Pattinson and Toni Colette. I am kind of sick of trump impersonations - it's cheap comedy. There was nothing too remarkable about this movie but I had a lot of fun watching it, hence the favorable rating. It is interesting how Bong Jun Ho's english speaking movies are always so differently paced to the korean ones, and this was very reminiscent of Okja or even Snowpiercer in style.

Dune 2021
orientalism, appropriation of islam and of arabic, while not casting a single arab/middle eastern person 👏👏👏
In all seriousness, the movie is fine. too many shots of ships entering and departing (felt like star wars - we get it, spaceships are cool!), the music is a bit too oriental for my taste, but i did enjoy the colors, the set, the 2 hours of exposition it gave and the half hour of actual plot :)

Time skips arbitrarily, and locations are separate, all having their own characteristic feature (staircase for noodles, window with postcards for the wife, clock for the woman's office, etc). We look through so many obstacles to see our main characters lives, but never get a chance to look through…
