Clint Eastwood is clearly trying to tell the world the following:

    - He gets along really well with Mexicans.
(But they are all criminals and day labourers)

    - The internet is evil.

    - It’s ok to be a racist as long as you’re a really old man and people still find you charming.

    - He is still a sex machine at 89 by participating in two, count them, TWO threesomes.

    - and he is still a total badass who could…

As someone who once worked at Funny Or Die, I probably should be more supportive of this movie. But honestly it’s a hot mess that comes across like a 90 minute sketch that was only half planned. There are some laughs in here. Definitely some good moments. But the film seems very rushed and the script just isn’t there.

The story is pretty weak and they either needed to put more into it or lean harder into the ferns interviews…

If this was a 10 part series, I would have eaten that whole thing up. My only real criticism is that I wanted to watch more of these characters interacting. Maybe it’s just because of Steven Soderbergh‘s past work, but I was expecting there to be either be more twists, or have the story be a little less predictable.

Movies like this need to have a “bring tissues” warning or something. Performances were fantastic and Barbie had me in a puddle multiple times. I hear crying in theatres is totally fine as long as you can hear everyone else doing it!

John Leguizamo was really compelling and the relationship between Bob & Lily had that authenticity that only comes from a filmmaker who is cutting off a piece of themselves and stitching it into the film. Also it was nice to see French Stewart in something again. Didn’t realise how much I missed seeing that guy in things.

You know it’s gonna be a trip when you have a golden shower and spanking cops within the first 15 minutes.
What a weird and wonderful film!
