Has more rapture talk than one might think, but this storm did hit Joplin, Missouri, so that should've been expected. My fave story is from the kids who were out driving around, listening to hip-hop and smoking weed. That one dude was high as fuck one moment and minutes later he's flying outside in a tornado, lol. wild. Anyway this your basic Netflix documentary, if you like docs about big storm weather, this one's good.

Irish family drama about a young girl who goes to live with her grandparents at a remote fishing village where she learns about a local legend connected to her ancestors. I've been watching a lot of folk horror movies recently and elements of this most definitely fit into the "folk" category, however this leans more into the arena of fantasy than offering anything even remotely freaky, even though a seal transforms into a woman at one point. From director John Sayles and shot by DP Haskell Wexler, the movie looks great and is a solid little fantasy/drama. 🍀

Drenched in dread and unpleasantness, this is slow burn horror that deals in the trauma of grief and the reckoning of…

Incendiary cinema, the kind of brutal movie that leaves you a bit stunned and wholly impressed but if you recommended it to people they'd most likely stop being your friend. A tough watch, but confronts racism, sexism, homophobia, and sexual repression all in really interesting and surprisingly thoughtful ways.

From the director of Roots, writers William Inge and Polly Platt, with a lovely score by Ernest Gold, and starring Anne Heywood, Donald Pleasence, Robert Vaughn, Earl Holliman, Carolyn Jones, Ronee…
