  The hotel room dance to “Father Figure” is a touch on the nose, but I don’t mind. The film definitely could’ve pushed further and it’s a bit rough sticking the landing, but overall thoroughly enjoyable (albeit lighter on actual sex than I had previously envisioned).

  About a half hour too long (how many times do we need to see her run down the street?), with the constant use of monologue (which I presume was pulled directly from passages in the book, written in first person) leading to too much exposition for the viewer, closing out with a weak ending.

  Cracking performance from Amy Adams, however, and nice to see some of these very real and very relatable concepts of womanhood/motherhood explored onscreen.
