The cinematography and camerawork is really good, but the way the plot progresses is just so random.

Why Try to Change Me Now 2023
I wasn't expecting this level of quality from iQIYI. Essentially, this is an indie film stretched into a more than six-hour television drama. The long shots and continuous takes evoke strong vibes reminiscent of Edward Yang and Hou Hsiao-hsien, which may lead some viewers to find the material monotonous. Fortunately, the excellent direction and the actors' performances (there are some seriously impressive performances here) ensure there's always something interesting happening on the screen.
The atmosphere and mood stayed with me…Translated from by

Blue Spring 2001
A fair amount of scenes feel like payoffs for which the film either never provides appropriate setups or botched ones when it does.
