Movie was strange, darling. Not for me.
Parts of it were gripping, I thought the non-linear structure of the story worked well, good twists.
But as a whole, felt more like a really good film you’d submit for a class assignment than a feature film.

Most common review I had heard going in was “it wasn’t what I expected” - and even with that expectation, it still wasn’t what I expected.
It’s a fun movie for sure. Less romantic and than I think the trailers let on, but some good laughs throughout.
Probably didn’t need 2 hours 20 minutes to tell this story - I think the movie could have benefitted from shaving off about 30 minutes.
I thought Mikey Madison was phenomenal, and certainly…
Super hard for me to rate this film.
I think it’s a really well-made movie. Mescal was quietly impressive, and the story is so subtly tragic it’s kind of astonishing thinking back on it.
That being said, it’s very dull. Everything that happens is so mundane it’s hard to keep interest.
Granted that’s the point - while it’s seemingly uneventful, there’s a lot of reading between the lines to be done that enlightens the viewer to an entirely different perspective on the events we’re watching. But it’s a lot of work.
