The humor may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but I found it pretty amusing from beginning to end.
More than anything though, Kubrick’s direction is what impressed me the most: the wide shots of the war room, the close ups, the zoom-ins.
Pretty special.
Super hard for me to rate this film.
I think it’s a really well-made movie. Mescal was quietly impressive, and the story is so subtly tragic it’s kind of astonishing thinking back on it.
That being said, it’s very dull. Everything that happens is so mundane it’s hard to keep interest.
Granted that’s the point - while it’s seemingly uneventful, there’s a lot of reading between the lines to be done that enlightens the viewer to an entirely different perspective on the events we’re watching. But it’s a lot of work.
