  Solid 4.25er. real good movie and pleasantly surprised. Not totally sure what I think yet, but certainly unconventional in some good ways. It could have easily ended up in the dopamine inducing but fine forget about it Netflix landfill, but it took itself/its ideas more seriously than that which made it all the more absorbing. i thought it was a good concept even though there are some seriously disordered priorities with some of these characters!! A movie worth seeing and talking about with others.

  Eggers seems like such a fascinating guy. Maxes out buildup without being boring for a single second, and entirely nails the tricky last 30 minutes many horror movies fall prey to. Taylor-Joy is truly sublime, and every single frame makes you desperate to know what will become of this story. wasn't a total hash of Puritanism, but deeply embedded in the horror and fervor of the unique context that was colonial New England, and revealing of how sin and hypocrisy can obliterate truth, faith, and really any life-giving aspect of family.

  I am ready for The Lighthouse!

  i’m mostly in awe. this is restorative cinema for the painful confusion and chaos of modern/postmodern times, and deserving of almost all the best i can say about any movie in pretty much every department.

  every time you think you know what it is, another layer of self-interrogating complexity, ridiculous comedy, and gut punching feeling compacted into a different film style is masterfully presented, and then created upon with compassionate eyes for the weighty honesty and humanism of postmodern nihilism. …
