Man, what a movie. I hadn’t seen this in forever and recently got the Criterion edition of this and figured I’d pop it on and I was reminded of how much I love this movie.
The pace is really frenetic but it works so well. A large part of the movie is a focus on Barry’s anxiety, and the whole first half of the film being paced so spastically really emphasizes that anxiety.

A perfectly enjoyable, easy to watch romcom. I had somehow missed this until now but I get why people like it.
Julia Roberts is very fun in this, Richard Gere is his charming self, and they both have great chemistry together. Jason Alexander is quite good in this too.

Reminded me a lot of Moonlight in its style, which is unsurprising. I didn't like it as much as Moonlight, but I did still really enjoy this movie. It's a beautifully-written film about love, about how far people will go for the ones they love and how love can carry you through even the hardest tragedies.
