Dead Poets Society 1989
Robin Williams remains my favorite actor of all time, and this film is his best work in my opinion. Watching it when I was around the age of the boys in the film resonated with me deeply. The phrase “carpe diem” was incredibly influential to my life choices in the years after seeing the film. The swing in emotions is unlike any other film I have seen, and the camaraderie and character development feels like a well written book. It remains one of the saddest movie deaths in my opinion, and it is only increased by the nature of Robin Williams death.
