This movie didn’t resonate with me at all but I thought the symbolism about the baggage and the train was good (obvious enough that I could understand it but I didn’t realize it until the very end). It took me a while to lock in to what was happening which was frustrating. This is down there with bottle rocket as my least favorite Wes Anderson movie but that’s a high bar. Using Bill Murray solely as a cameo is very funny.

    Lisan al-Gaib!

The two scenes where they drown out all but one color (killing the harkonen scouts in the beginning & the arena) really stood out to me this time

Entertaining but not much more to say. There were some shots that were composed well (the umbrellas and reading the votes). I wish they showed more of the campaigning for votes bc just tallying the votes wasn’t very suspenseful without understanding each candidate. The best character development happened 20 minutes before the movie ended which seems like a missed opportunity. The costumes were awesome.

I don’t love the English voice acting for Porco because it’s the same delivery for every line. I love how this movie balances telling a story of survivor’s guilt in an over-the-top goofy way. It’s really funny. The scenes with Curtis are especially silly. The sexism in this movie is a bit much even if it takes place in 1930s Italy. It goes without saying but the imagery and music in this movie are amazing, but overall the experience lost a little something on the rewatch.
