This film was definitely something of a relatable one for me — although the struggles therein far more resemble those of my grandparents, parents … the emotions and circumstance remain much the same across time, culture, space.
The framing of this film, with the author’s original commentary at the beginning and end - combined with the presentation of the story itself - are memorable and engaging, allowing a full suspension of ourselves in its world.

A visually enriched series of vignettes — that’s the most I can say of this film. While I was able to pick up on and enjoy the thematic content to a certain degree, this film felt as though it lacked some core mechanic to drive it to the levels of greatness. I didn’t dislike this film, but I feel it is more conceptual and perhaps a bit more of an abstraction than I was expecting.
