Risk of Acid Rain 2015
One of the very few "queer" movies of Iranian post-revolution cinema is a beige toned slice of life film depicting the unmitigated loneliness of an old northerner who's still clinging to the decades-old memories of his first love, Khosro, who most likely never loved him back.
Regardless of how I feel about the movie, I'm happy that it exists.

در سایه‌ی سرو تعادل درستی از المان‌های ایرانی و سمبلیسم غربی رو رعایت می‌کنه تا داستانش رو بدون هیچ دیالوگی منتقل کنه. جاهایی از انیمیشن هست که ممکنه حتی برای آدمی که در همین فرهنگ بزرگ شده هم گنگ باشه و صحنه‌هایی هم هست که به بعضی بازنمایی‌های اسلامی/سنتی تو کاراکترپردازی تن می‌ده تا زبان روایی آشنایی بسازه. ولی چیزی که در نهایت تولید شده تصویری یکپارچه از دردهای غیرقابل بیانه.

The outcome of turning "eat the rich" into a mere social media trend without understanding its sociopolitical connotations is Netflix's Delicious, a movie that turns the working class into savage cannibals and the rich into vulnerable preys in an attempt to illustrate a subversive girlboss revenge plot. The problem is that the attempt is shit, ironically classist and devoid of any form of empathy for the grassroot folks. Truly the perfect movie for encapsulating the state of the world in 2025.
