When crazy Mel makes a movie he is taking a little bit of Peter Weir. A little bit of Richard Donner and a little bit of George Miller with him. Sign me up. And you have to admire his commitment to making two films in completely dead languages, which only adds to the experience. My only complaint is this looks so digital, I wish he shot on film. 

Also, I wish this director showed up for Flight Risk.

Kevin Reynolds has to be one of the most underrated directors. I love his commitment to making the most insane action sequences with the most elaborate shots in the actual environments they take place. All to make one crazy weird movie after another. 

Highly recommend the Warner Archive blu ray as well, overall a solid transfer with fine detail.

It sucked and it might be one of my favorites of the year.
