Beauty and the Beast 2017
If you can go through the hassle of getting a nice hill to film on, why use a CG landscape background when there’s tons of nature beautiful landscapes all over the world? Just using a photo as a plate would be better than creating a CG background!
Somewhat inspired and inoffensive, but yet lacked some of the bite of the original. I enjoyed the extra songs and the additional lore, but it never got past feeling like a Broadway production…

Was hoping for a little more Snowpiercer and a little less Okja, but this was just weird enough to keep things moving.
Robert Patterson gave an incredible nuanced performance, and it felt like his story critiquing the expendability of the working class was far more interesting and thought-through than the Trump satire that the other main cast members were in. I wish that the net of satire had been cast a little wider, like how Don’t Look Up also handled the tech/media…

Very much a mixed bag. On the one hand (axe?) we get some really creative ideas, some great comedy, and a passable amount of character work. Bale is creepy, Hemsworth is bold, and Crowe is just having so much fun.
