Past Lives 2023
Heart wrenchingly beautiful. Some of the most lovely cinematography I have ever seen. Loved the extended use of extreme wide shots- it really brought perspective to the fact they were just two people with a connection, in a city abundant with similar stories.
Since watching this, and Perfect Days, I have come to appreciate slow paced films even more. We love a fast film in the West, it is invigorating to see outside of that.

Some of Willem Dafoe’s best work.
(I’d never considered this film as an allegory for underestimating disabled potential before. Nemos dad is hellbent on telling him what he can’t do because of his disability, but Nemo ends up going above and beyond expectations.)
