The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie

    ★★★★½

Wow, this movie feels like a miracle that it exists!
A 2D animated American film with a theatrical release! Starring Daffy Duck & Porky Pig! It's the pre-"greedy jerk" Daffy that the character has ossified into! They don't even give Bugs Bunny a cameo! The plot seems to partly riffs on The Stuff of all things! AND IT'S FUNNY!

I'm giving this extra points just for getting a theatrical release, but DANG, this movie is something special. As a dedicated Looney Tunes (and 2D animation) fan, it made me very happy!

I found this unbearably boring. It's got some fun Halloween touches like kids using jack o'lanterns as actual lanterns (is that a thing anyone ever does?) a couple good gore effects, but it's mostly a mess. The plot mostly just feels like "stuff happens" - I didn't care about any of the characters, the supernatural elements felt like they were there out of some sort of a sense of obligation to try to make the movie scarier, and while there were a few stylish shots, I didn't find it enough to hold my interest.

It's real bad, but sometimes it's nice to watch a garbage movie with a bunch of little puppetty creatures.
