There is a murder, but there is also the racism of the folks in the town. In this movie they are interwoven and they are both intriguing. Excellent acting from Sydney Poitier and Rod Steiger (who were great friends off screen). Haskell Wexler. Quincy Jones. Ray Charles. Norman Jewison. Just great, great, great.

Runaway Jury 2003
This is not too bad and entertaining to watch no matter how implausible it is. Sadly, the world view here is more of a popcorn variety so you will not get those complex nuances that you get out of better works. Reason probably why i never read any of John Grisham's novels. I also wasn't too impressed with directing style. Gene Hackman is superb though.

Mask Girl 2023
Disappointing. It started slow and somewhat boring in the 1st episode. The following episode, though, was crazy and weird in a good way. Things further developed mid-way in the same direction and there was plenty of suspense. However, from 5th episode (the weakest one btw), it dropped all the weirdness and got really conventional. The ending wrap up was your generic thriller conclusion. And I mean generic. It made little sense. Too bad as the direction and acting is top notch.

The story may not be as fresh now and there are some things that don't make sense, but, my God, what great acting and atmosphere. Joan Crawford displays a wide range of emotions: love, fear, anger, and all very believable. And, of course, it's always nice to see that chiseled face, Jack Palance. What also stands…
