I love a good cliché; Anya Joy Taylor and Whiplash who play two undercover snipers, fall in love while working in two towers opposite each other in the middle of nowhere is a total chef kiss. It reminded me of a sci-fi romance I read in the 2010s. I liked it in that sense.
The tempo is also pretty good, but the fact that they handled the whole science fiction part, like they were explaining it to an idiot is…
There's an iconic scene in Fleabag where she and Belinda are having drinks at a bar and they talk: "Women are born with pain built in. It's our physical destiny - period pains, sore breasts, childbirth etc. We cary it within ourselves throughout our lives. Men don't. They have to seek it out."
With that magnificent opening sequence, the whole movie reminded me of this dialogue. While Vanessa Kirby, with her amazing performance, presented her pain with a raw reality…
I was 7y when I first watched this movie. I remember being incredibly afraid of water and I was fascinated by the scenario where the whole world was underwater. It's still a wonderfully nostalgic movie
