It’s fine as an action flick and okay as a comedy - but thanks to Hollywood’s Good Boy Jack Quaid, it turns out to be a really good time. Love the nepo baby vs. nepo baby finale with Ray Nicholson.
I also loved being able to nitpick the stupidity of bank employees getting robbed in movies for my wife afterwards.
Such a great time. You have to be in the mood for a comedy and you should probably be a fan of Jim Jarmusch, but it's just plain fun and silly. Zombie Iggy Pop chugging coffee, Adam Driver in a Smart Car, and UPS Driver RZA are just three great visuals this picture gives us.
This is going to be one of the best movies of the year and it will be criminally underseen, so why not make it a batshit insane sci-fi/action/family drama/comedy that does all of it really well? All bets are off. Do whatever you want. Is it going to be for everybody? No, but the people it was meant for are going to find it. I am definitely one of those people.

It seems to me that Denis Villeneuve likes his sci-fi the same way I do: big, mysterious, and strange. Arrival and Blade Runner 2049 were both incredible feats that turned out better than I had hoped they'd be; slow-burning and thought provoking adaptations of great works that left me wishing I could've spent more time in their worlds.
