This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
Anyone this mentally unstable would be in a mental institution if they weren’t already dead. This leads one to believe that he is not just interpreting everything around him in a negative light, but almost nothing in the plot of the movie is actually real. He probably suffered trauma as a kid relating to his mom, but the whole “epic” the movie claims to portray is nonsensical and only occurs in Beaus head.
