It got pretty bad reviews, but I liked it! Before going, I was kind of turned off by the fact DeNiro played two characters; I love the guy, but it was giving overkill. However, he slayed. The whole Costello/Genovese beef was interesting too - definitely do some back story research before watching. I feel pretty familiar the Gotti mob era, but this was before him during the prohibition era which was also cool to see. Overall I thought it was informative, good acting, and not weird with DeNiro playing both parts (it was actuallypetty sick ngl).
Woody harrelson’s still got it…really enjoyed this one. Given how absurd this (true) storyline sounded, I was kind of picturing a cheesiness level reminiscent of 47 Meters Down, but it was not cheesy at allll. Acting was great. And such a miraculous story. Engaging throughout. A lot of interesting moral dilemma situations and also highlights the impact of good leadership in high-stress scenarios.
Holy mother of god. This movie…This. Movie. I don’t even know where to begin. I don’t know why more people aren’t talking about this movie. It was one of the most compelling, gory, jaw-dropping films I’ve ever seen. Demi Moore plays a past-her-prime aerobics teacher, and starts taking “the substance” to create a young, taut “best version” of herself. The substance results in her birthing this version of herself - OUT OF HER SPINE…like some adam and eve type sheeit.…
I don't really know what to say about this one. There's too much to unpack to fit in one paragraph. But I have two main thoughts:
1. It was interesting to learn more about Pennsylvania (a pretty slept on state imo).
2. Throughout the whole film I had so many questions that I wanted to be answered immediately (mostly about laszlos past), but Corbet makes you work for the answers. It made me think that oftentimes people (@me) can sometimes…
