Every once in a while, a film comes along that changes your perspective on life. I, Daniel Blake, does exactly that. A harrowing insight into an underclass that is all too real in modern Britain. This is what happens when those in power prioritise the wealth of the rich over the lives of the poor.
The performances of the two lead actors, Dave Johns and Hayley Squires, are nothing short of outstanding. Brilliantly shot, capturing the essence of the crumbling Newcastle council estates, I, Daniel Blake, is essential viewing.

Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri 2017
A film that will likely stay with you long after the credits roll, this will almost certainly be lauded as a modern classic. Frances McDormand is superb as the mother of a murdered teenager intent on pushing the local police for answers, and Sam Rockwell shows sublime talent as a seriously flawed police officer. With drama, humour and sadness following through it like a river, Three Billboards is an early contender for the finest film of 2018.
