Long Day's Journey into Night 2018
Masterpiece of a cinematic experience. Less so of a storytelling one. As a filmmaker I was enamored through and through by the Cinematography, especially the final hour which includes a 59 minute one shot. This film has been on my watch list since 2019 and holy wow I should have watched it then.
The depth of acting from each character, the tear between traditional religious understandings of our world and more contemporary viewpoints, and the stunning visuals that explore love in earnest down to brutality in the final scene all brought this film together to be the work of art that it is.
