The original Gladiator being one of my all time favorites, I was quite excited when this movie was announced. Unfortunately if it takes you twenty years to make a sequel Ridley Scott you probably shouldn’t have made it. The plot was unnecessarily complex dragging out the film and cutting away from the proper development of the characters. The original was an incredible modern tragedy. Fight Club 1999
This film moves slowly but holds your attention by keeping you wondering what the hell is going on. The scenes descend further into darkness, violence, and madness as the film progresses. In the final minutes a shocking and satisfying truth unfolds. This movie is all about the ending. The final shot of the narrator and his romantic interest reveals the importance of love but in a non basic romcom way. It’s a solid film maybe a tad overrated though.
