Shrek 2001
Watching this with friends led to a thought provoking debate about how popular All Star by Smash Mouth was already before this movie came out. Jack said everyone associates the song with Shrek and Megan and I were like nah. Movie came out in ‘01 and it went triple platinum in 1999, so you tell me who was correct. Speaking of dates, the animations were very impressive for 2001. Also that Donkey has some good one liners!

Statham plays his classic (only?) role of angry hottie from secret government program who retired from the game but now wants back in for some revenge. It was fun to watch because who doesn’t like Statham eviscerating bad guys, but it was nothing new. He did kill a ~dare I say~ inappropriate amount of innocent bystanders, to the point where his motives weren't doin it for me. Josh Hutcherson and his frosted tips made for a good tech-bro-nepo-baby-villain (don’t worry Josh, they could never make me hate you).
