The script would have benefited from down sizing, as it feels like three mediocre movies crammed into one. First, seeding the conflicts between the regular sized and the small (which never goes anywhere); second, the white savior story as our protagonist discovers and is inspired by the hard working people of color left to fend for themselves in a ghetto; and third, an out-of-left-field climate change story with a barely tenuous relation to any of the plot that came before…

Die Nibelungen: Siegfried 1924
"Who TF did I marry?" in the time of Old Germanic legend. I was drawn to this film as I am reading the Thidrekssaga, which includes parts of Sigfried's story told in different ways. Great costumes (Kriemhild!), beautiful sets (the cave of the Nibelungs!), insane practical effects (the dragon!) and even animation (the dream sequences!)... this is a treasure. Bonus points for having the vibe of an NES-era Final Fantasy game rendered in such beautifully composed shots.
