I like that despite the Mega Man X series being the "serious" version of Mega Man, they decided to make the Robot Master analogues these goofy cartoon animals and named them things like "Chill Penguin".

Please Save My Earth 1993
Gorgeous direction by Yamazaki. Has a great sense of emotion, highlighted by his usual fantastic emotion-infused imagery and wonderful staging.
The story has an interesting hook and a compelling antagonist who manipulates and puts the other characters through the wringer in ways that has you eager to find out what happens next. There are "cartoons" and then there are "animator cartoons", and this is a wonderful example of the latter. The story really doesn't matter and they know it. This was just an excuse to animate cool mechs, cute girls, and fun action and it's all the better for it. Alongside a banger of a soundtrack, this is a wonderful experience for anyone who likes animation for animation's sake.
