Had never seen this cult classic. Pleasantly surprised with how well the practical effects look for a movie from 1985. A fun one to watch during Halloween season for sure, maybe even a top contender to watch on Halloween if you want something light.
This movie was like watching a “horror” movie attempted by Disney with some of the shittiest jump scares conceived.

Mandy. Had it not been named after one of the characters I would not have been able to tell you a single character's name in the entire movie; that's how bad the writing was. I’ll start by saying that I enjoyed the change of pace Sound of Metal brought to the screen. Instead of worrying about capturing the audience's attention with fancy cinematography it instead finds its place by putting the camera in the perfect spot and letting the scene unfold. Similarly, the story told in the movie doesn’t feel a need to have a beginning nor end, instead offering a slice of life. In my opinion stories like this, that show a glimpse…
