A tight, tense detective drama playing out over a rural Korean town. Some amazing performances and slick direction. Possibly slacks in the middle but that may be on purpose. Overall great film though.

Wanted to love it as I liked the source material, director, cast. Overall a bit of a mess, with a lot of anti-Trump sentiment ham-fisted into a story that possibly wasn't a natural fit for it. Script was a bit dumb in places and weird tone shifts made the whole thing feel clanky.

As long as it is contemplative. The characters are interesting and the performances are obviously great but it was lacking some of the urgency that makes Tarantinos films what they are. As the world crumbles around us, the film examines our relationship with cinema and it's presence as a world of what could've beens. However, this dreamy trip across 60s LA can start to feel a little like it has no destination.

The ruined rule Britannia in Yorgos Lanthimos’ fall into 18th Century England. With three stark but superior performances from Coleman, Weiss and Stone, the film cuts through its two hour run time to deliver a terrifyingly topical view of power and the tole it takes to weild it. This style of filmmaking is such a contrast to everything out there at the moment it stands out as something truly exceptional.
