Combines the tenderness of Malayalam new wave with Apichatphong-esque uncanny. Love how it's depictions of intimacies never becomes bogged down by the ever encroaching alienation of the city. Nickel Boys 2024
Formally quite interesting, but personally never been a fan of the first person perspective. The film, quite necessarily, doesn't stick to it rigorously, using close-ups and blocking to undercut some of the disorientation caused by the pov. What it enhances is the intense proximity of bodies, both intimacies and violence, the closeness and turning away.
