  Pretentious piece of shit. In order to escape from being deemed as a cheap sentimentalist it tries to distance itself, mainly through the means of badly-written pseduo-absurdist dialogue and forced randomness.
  Being cold and brutal and depicting escape mechanisms is one thing and having no charm, heart, or any sense of pacing is another.
  There are some kitch idyllic shots, mainly aimed for trailers and movie snapshots mainly aimed at the western audience that promises them yet another tale of the magnificent east...
  In sum: failed debut and full of rookie mistakes. The child actor is great though. That's the only redeeming thing in this movie.

  Definitely not Garland's strongest piece. The story was overexplained and pacing needed a bit more work and most importantly, the symbolism was way too heavy handed.
  However, the visuals, music, and some of the ideas were Garland level good. Worth the price of admission
