  I have to set the stage for my opinion here: I'm a huge Dune fan, I've read and love the Frank Herbert books, I love the David Lynch film, but I hate the 2000 Sci-Fi channel mini-series. It sacrificed the proper tone and feel for a half-assed faithfulness to the letter-of-the-page. Not to mention, the director intentionally made the mini-series to seem like a stage play.
