A magnum opus of a war film. The scale, score, and sheer objective terror throw the audience into the front lines of the metaphorical fever that is war.
James Friends’ cinematography is a feat in and of itself. It calls homage to the war film “Come And See”, as the protagonist shows us the terror of war through his eyes.
The juxtaposition of the soldiers to the generals shows the toxicity of the hierarchical society that bred the third reich.…
