    The Stepford Wives

    ★★★½

The Stepford Wives weaves a fascinating web of commentary on beauty standards, gender roles, and the loss of individualists in a patriarchal society. The set up for me is a little long but the payoff is enjoyable and I can understand how groundbreaking this film was in 1975. It’s crazy how 50 years later and we are still dealing with some of the same issues. This film also does a wonderful job of setting and keeping tension. There is an…

    Mickey 17

    ★★★½

Mickey 17 is full of colorful commentary on the state of the U.S., capitalism, greed, and corruption. Channeling Terry Gilliam at times with its satire, Mickey 17 cracked me up several times with its ridiculousness and believability. Mark Ruffalo went crazy with his Donald trump impression and Naomi Acki and Robert Pattinson are terrific. R Pats is really doing some out of the box stuff. Solid watch. Would pair with Groundhog’s Day or Don’t Look Up.

I can’t believe I waited this long to watch this film. Immaculately shot, most of the film seems to be shot handheld to me, which makes you feel like you’re watching life unfold from the main character’s  perspective. One of those films you could freeze frame at any point and make a poster out of. Moonlight speaks volumes while saying very, very little. Top tier acting from everyone. This is one you’ve just gotta see.

Simply excellent. I went into Flow with no expectations or context. This film is BEAUTIFUL. The animation is some of the best I’ve ever seen. I cannot believe this was made in Blender. Aside from that, I’ve never quite seen a movie like this, no dialogue, no humans, just animals thugging life out, surviving, and vibes. I love how all of the animals have distinct personalities without words being spoken. Plenty of tension and dynamics in this one. The capybara…
