  Sweeping portrait of the embellished façade of the American Dream—an evergreen story of immigration, assimilation, exploitation, creation and destruction, Adrien Brody carries the first half and Felicity Jones in the latter, both performances floored me they’re the heart and soul of this film, not to mention the gorgeous 70mm VistaVision cinematography and a moving score on top of it all, this is truly something special

  Another whirlwind of a journey crafted by Sean Baker that feels like the culmination of all his work so far, Mikey Madison's pure excellence as Anora, who is presented with a once-in-lifetime opportunity that (of course) turns out to be too good to be true—fantastical, adventurous and free until the morning after when reality comes to crash the party, romantic and real until the illusion wears off, chaotic and funny and heartbreaking in one fell swoop

  Also Yura Borisov is the MVP as the quiet & observant Igor, might be the best supporting character this year

  I need to know what the hell went on during production that turned what was supposed to be an exciting new Captain America entry and follow-up to Falcon and the Winter Soldier, into a poorly paced ADR-ridden quasi-sequel to *squints* 2008’s The Incredible Hulk?? Extremely, aggressively mid and disappointing, I enjoyed some of the cast’s performances but they weren’t enough to salvage the final product, the De Palma-esque political thriller trailer set unrealistic expectations for me, villain reveal anticlimactic as…

  This has a lot of good things going for it: incredible leading actors, thrilling scares, great production design, excellent use of practical effects and a killer final act, it unfortunately gets weighed down heavily by the nature of being a franchise legacy sequel reference-callback-palooza à la The Force Awakens, definitely not as terrible as some of you are making it out to be though, it's still damn good!!
