The most honest view of poverty in America I've ever seen. This movie never once feels like it passes judgement on any of its subject matter. By telling the story through the young girl's perspective, we remove bias and watch life for what life really is for some. It was a perfect, sympathetic, compassionate view. It's hard to watch, as it should be. This is a great and important film.

Everything Everywhere All at Once 2022
Everything Everywhere All at Once dances on a tightrope the entire time. It is every genre. It is absurd. It is complex. It constantly feels like it shouldn't work at all, yet it never falls apart. It makes for a frustrating watch.
The fact that this lead to the father being able to traumatize another woman is even more…

The Empty Man 2020
Ok, first, the good:
The opening sequence is its own little story and it sets an intriguing and unique backstory for The Empty Man. The concepts behind this tale are Buddhism gone horribly awry, and I haven't seen that before in a horror movie. It sets up potential for some really interesting ideas. Some scenes are creepy. The skeleton is cool looking. James Badge Dale's acting was also well done. The bad:
The directing was scarier than the movie. There…Translated from by -
mother! 2017
This feels like one of those movies in which it is terrible, but nobody's allowed to say so because everyone will tell them how they must not have understood it.
I get the metaphor, and I even agree with the environmental messages, but this does nothing to actually further them. It's an annoying film to watch. Two thirds of it is Jennifer Lawrence running around her busy house wishing it wasn't so. Then you get some absurd, shock value metaphors,…
