I think the movie is really good, but it feels very different than the originals.

I felt that some of the story and some of the acting from minor characters felt weird. The original felt grounded, this felt a little “plot-forwarding.”

Despite having the same casting director as the OG films, not all the choices were great here. Tom Blyth, Hunter Schafer, and Viola Davis do phenomenal here. Blyth really feels like he could be younger Donald Sutherland. I know…

A great conclusion to a great series. I feel like people focus too much on the love triangle when it is so much more than that. This movie has a strong message about war and trauma.

Again shouting out the performances from the cast, especially Jennifer Lawerence.

Hot Take: This film is better than Catching Fire.

Gary Ross established the cinematic world of Panem. It’s futuristic and fantastical yet grounded in reality. I would argue that it should have been nominated for some Oscars atleast.

The entire cast and crew brought their A game.

The Cinematography is amazing. The entire look of the movie is gorgeous. It is raw and beautiful. I also like the shaky cam, I think it brings a fear factor to the movie.…

    Lincoln

    ★★★★

Daniel Day Lewis truly transformed into Abraham Lincoln in this film. A stellar performance.

I’ve tried to watch this movie multiple times before but could not get through it, but I had no problem this time.

The cast and directing is top notch and portrayed an amazing part of American history. My only critique is that it focused more on Congress than Lincoln himself. We watched as Congressmen and Seward’s men tried to sway other Representatives to vote yes on the 13th Amendment.

While Lincoln had a great presence on screen, I felt like he didn’t do much throughout the film. Still a great movie
